| Waz e James band - WATERMELON

Waz and his band, bassist Scooter Owen and percussionist Dave Major, have established themselves as one of Melbourne's more popular pub bands, rocking venues with their own blend of country rock, as well as backing artists such as Johnny Green & Grunter from the Blues Cowboys, Tracey Bunn of the Toe Sucking Cowgirls and Den Hanrahan. The bands popularity has been growing steadily over the last two years and their high energy acoustic driven country blues has recently been catching the attention of established artists such as Bill Chambers and Neil Murray.
The new CD, Watermelon, has Waz and the now renowned rhythm section that forms the main band joined in the studio by lap steel virtuoso, Peter Fidler. Ccompleting the all star line up, is one of Melbourne's best country guitarists/pianists, Dave Moll. These two great guitar players playing alongside Waz makes for some great moments - reminiscent of the famous Allman Brothers.

Mark Lucas and The Dead Setters

Fronted by Mark Lucas, The Dead Setters are a roots music band with a distinctly Australian music approach to what is commonly referred to as Americana.
Sideshow Alley is the fourth album from the singer-songwriter since fronting the seminal alt country outfit, The Parwills, in the mid 90s and it contains a spirited mix of new material recorded with The Dead Setters and friends such as James Gillard, Michel Rose and Mark Oats and a handful of songs from the past decade re-recorded live.

The Dennis Boys Band

Gravel Road Records are proud to introduce The Dennis Boys Band. Born and bred in country NSW these full time cowboys have learnt to rock and roll in the coal mines, truck stops and sweaty pub's of the Upper Hunter Valley, their songs rising up spitting grit with a tightness only gained from years and years of shed rehearsals.
In a time of country imitators this country band is the real thing. It's when they are rocking out that The Dennis Boys are at their best - with a heavy twang bouncing over the unmistakeable country influenced rhythm section.
The Dennis Boys, Erle, Lyle and Shane are joined on vocals by sister Leah and drummer Dave Burke, completing the harmonies, and the song writing skills of Lyle and Shane shine through on there first independent release, a self titled 4 track EP.
The band is well into recording for their first full length CD for Gravel Road records - due out towards the end of 2009.
Stay tuned for more news on the new CD and in the meantime click here to hear The Dennis Boys Band on their MySpace page.

Pete Fidler

"Dobro player. That's lap-style, steel guitar, resophonic guitar, squareneck guitar, resonator guitar, or whatever you wanna call it. I kick around with some bluegrass and roots acts in Melbourne and I've racked up a decent count of festivals, sessions and workshops around the country. Music is for the making, and I'm loving every minute making it!"

Den Hanrahan

Den Hanrahan's music is part country pub rock, part poetic troubadour. He is a singer, songwriter, storyteller, guitar, banjo and harp player, stomp-box stomper, front bar larrikin. His gutsy vocals and lively guitar playing are the hallmarks of a misspent youth. His gigs are bold and upbeat, yet maintain an intimacy with the audience. His music is country rock born of one-night stands and roadhouses, and he's not afraid to take his audience along for the ride!
